Gwili Steam Railway
RSH 0-4-0ST No. 7058 ‘Olwen’
Manufacturer: Robert Stephenson and Hawthorns, 1942; Works No. 7058
Previous owner(s): CEGB Earley Power Station, Reading
Current status: Under overhaul
Notes: This locomotive is one of two RSH 0-4-0STs based on the internal railway network at the Central Electricity Generating Board's Earley Power Station. It became Earley No. 1, and operated from a shed built on the power station site. Sister locomotive Earley No. 2 was withdrawn and broken up in 1969. Earley was deemed surplus to requirements following the opening of Didcot A Power Station, and was closed in 1976. No. 1 was soon sold to the fledgling Gwili Railway, where it has seen regular service, and has spent many years in 'Percy' livery. It has also masqueraded as cosmetically similar Swansea Harbour Trust shunter No. 1144 in both GWR and BR(W) guises, and has visited other railways in this condition. It is owned by the Gwili Railway Preservation Society, which continues to raise money for its current overhaul.
