Plan your day - Classic Transport Event at Gwili Steam Railway

Plan your day

Steam trains run throughout the day alongside the beautiful Gwili River. Your day ticket includes as many train rides as you like so hop on and off throughout the day. To get the most from your ticket, best to spend the day here.

EVENT FIELD - Gates open 10am

  • Follow signs to the event field opposite Bronwydd Arms Station
  • Show Advance Tickets on entry or purchase tickets on the day
  • Parking in the field
  • Browse the display of classic vehicles
  • Refreshments available in the event field
  • Children's activities in the event field
  • Catch a Tractor and trailer ride in the field


  • Cross the road to Bronwydd Arms Station (300 yards)
  • View the steam traction engine in the car park
  • Visit the Gwili Steam Railway Museum to see a collection of railway memorabilia
  • Watch the austerity steam locomotive arrive and depart at Bronwydd Arms station throughout the day
  • Visit the Victorian Tea Rooms
  • Collect your Plan your day handout from the Ticket Office on the platform
  • Look out for herons flying over the river as you approach Llwyfan Cerrig where you disembark
  • The train meanders through the beautiful Gwili valley to Danycoed Halt and returns to Llwyfan Cerrig


  • Visit the typical branch line waiting room from 1911
  • Step inside a fully working Travelling Post Office 1950s-60s
  • Step up on the footplate of the last Welsh built steam locomotive, the Taff Vale Railway 01 class 0-6-2T No. 28, built in 1897, on display after cosmetic restoration at Llangollen Steam Railway
  • Look out for the Great Western Railway guards brake van under restoration
  • 1905 War horse wagon - used to transport horses during war time
  • Aberaeron Signal Box - saved from a garden in Fishguard
  • Little ones (and big ones) can ride on the Miniature Railway
  • Relax in the riverside picnic area
  • Toilet facilities on the platform including baby change and disabled access toilets

Back at Bronwydd Arms Station

  • Visit the Gwili Steam Railway Shop for souvenirs, books, Thomas the Tank Engine toys, Peter's Railway Books and Hornby model railway stock.
  • Visit the Gwili Steam Railway Museum and see the Station Master's stuffed Dog
  • Enjoy light snacks in the Victorian Tea Rooms
  • Visit the Signal Box originally from Llandybie
  • Come back and see us again soon
