Celebrating All Things Welsh with Hwyl Events
An exciting new visitor experience is coming to Carmarthenshire this Summer… Hwyl Events. Visitors to Carmarthenshire and West Wales, as well as those of us living locally, can expect to see regular events being held throughout the County, which will bring to life the traditions and culture of Wales – with food, music, dance, storytelling, sport and most importantly, some ‘hwyl’ (fun).
You can book through the What’s On section – July 14th, this will take you to the external booking system.
Tickets are now on sale for the first two of these events. ‘HwylNos on the Gwili Railway’ on the evening of 14th July – where lucky guests will enjoy authentic Welsh food and entertainment on a historic steam train as it travels through the countryside. And ‘HwylNos at Llety Cynin’ is on Friday 27th July, a relaxed evening of traditional Welsh food, dance, stories and music held on a working farm on the outskirts of St Clears.
Other locations for this summer’s Hwyl Events include Llanelly House, the Plough Inn at Rhosmaen and the National Botanic Garden of Wales – with full details on these coming very soon.
Hwyl Events offer two types of events: ‘HwylNos’ which offers visitors an evening of top Welsh entertainment and food and ‘[email protected]’ designed for children to enjoy interactive Welsh experiences, from dancing workshops to storytelling walks at some of the County’s finest visitor attractions.
Nia Ball, Chief Executive of Carmarthenshire Tourism Association, who are behind these events said “We’re delighted to offer a new tourism product to visitors to South West Wales. We’ve received funding from the Welsh Government’s Tourism Product Innovation Fund to get these established this year – and our aim is to offer regular events into future years, which showcase a true taste of Wales to our County’s visitors – and to hopefully help attract new visitors to our area too.”
