Driver experience day – new format, new team, huge smiles!

New format for Gwili Railway Driver Experience Day a huge success for volunteers and participants…

15th June 2019

As a photographer for Gwili (Scott Artus Marketing Manager) it was a pleasure to capture the drama, teamwork and smiles. It proves we are a must see destination for visitors from across the UK and Europe.

To see the sheer joy of seeing participants and volunteers enjoy our 1st full driver experience day for 2019 on Saturday 15th June at The Gwili Steam Railway.

The first team to start the day driving the ‘Welsh Guardsman’ were Udo Lang (Udo travelled all the way to Carmarthen from Munich) and John Richardson (a fellow Yorkshireman who’s lived in Wales since the 70s).

We had a fantastic day, lots of new friendships were made and the sheer professionalism of our volunteers and staff made this a truly special day.

What a dynamic and cohesive family team the Bowen family were. Father and Son Dennis and Ian were a credit to the railway all their action timed well. Seeing their teamwork proved that families who work and play together are a happy family. What a perfect Fathers day weekend.

Last but not least were the great duo Morris Blake and Phil Battison who had a whale of a time enjoying being signalman, guards then finally driver and fireman. The perfect end to the day for a dynamic team. You can see by their smiles how much we enjoyed the day.

Well done all and we look forward to the next day.
