Ghost Express a Gwili success story

Ghost Express a huge success…

Ghost Express a huge success…
The 2nd annual Ghost Express Halloween trains were a huge success for the Gwili Steam Railway. After last years huge crowd pleaser the team of staff and volunteers organised this years event to cover three days over the half term period. With the help of the local papers and Carmarthen Council tourist teams the railway advertised and delivered postcards to local schools.
The family friendly event was a popular and simple crowd pleaser. At Llwyfan Cerrig Station magician ‘Loopy Lews’ provided entertainment with volunteers providing treats etc to a background of a themed station display. Part of the big draw was the redesigned and new miniature railway provided by the team who carried over 300 passengers between services.
Over 1000 passengers travelled and enjoyed food on the trains. Prizes were given out for best costumes and the 1st prize winner of a family ticket for Santa’s Magical Steam Trains was Mrs Phillips and her family from Swansea.
The Directors and GRPS would like to thank all the volunteers, staff and Carmarthen Council tourist team who made this event a huge success. We now look forward to our popular Santa’s Magical Steam Trains in December. Next years Ghost Express will be back bigger and better than before and it will help that the event is on a Friday and Saturday.
We would also like to thank Carmarthenshire County Council with sponsorship of this new event and help towards adverts in the local press.
