Gwili Railway Preservation Society

The GRPS actively supports the Gwili Railway Company to develop, run and maintain steam railway services on a part of the former GWR Aberystwyth to Carmarthen branch line. Our base is at Bronwydd Arms Station just to the north of Carmarthen in beautiful West Wales. The Society raises money to support projects, provides facilities for the volunteers who man the services and provides amenities for our visitors. Society volunteers also ensure that trackwork, buildings, locomotives and rolling stock are maintained.

GWILI RAILWAY EMERGENCY FUND

Please Share!
To help support the Gwili Steam Railway at this difficult time, the Gwili Railway Preservation Society is opening an Emergency Fund. Your donations will help ensure the survival of the Volunteer run Gwili Railway, which was formed 42 years ago to run steam trains in the beautiful Gwili Valley, near Carmarthen.
Sadly we have lost income from Dining trains, Cream teas and Easter and whilst we may achieve Government assistance, it probably won’t cover all costs. We face a significant loss of income over an uncertain period of time which through no fault of our own could threaten the future of the Railway.
If you have been a member in the past and your membership has lapsed, then please consider re-joining the Society. Membership application details are on the page. If your membership is up for renewal, then please renew or if not paying by Standing Order please consider this option. Please don’t wait for a reminder to be sent.
Whilst the closure to the public is temporary, there is no guarantee when the Railway will reopen although volunteers can still come to site.

The Railway has secured the hire of Pannier Tank L92 for a set number of steaming’s for the 2020 season and an exciting programme of events has been planned for when we are back up and running.

Any surplus funds raised will be allocated to our Loco Fund for the eventual return to steam of Olwen as 1144 and Austerity locomotive Haulwen. Your help will ensure that the Gwili Railway is there for generations to come. Please support us.
Thank you!
