The Gwili is pleased to announce that work is in hand to re-start operation of the miniature railway. The popular 7.25″ line at Llwyfan Cerrig has received significant investment from the GRPS and work is ongoing to prepare for running. We hope to begin services on August 25th and, subject to volunteer availability, run whenever the ‘big’ trains are operating. If anyone would like to get involved with operating and developing this popular attraction please get in touch with the office.
The Gwili Railway are proud to announce the upcoming launch of the new Bookshed. This shop at Bronwydd Arms has been funded and built by volunteers and you will find a huge range of pre-loved books, DVD’s, maps and much more for sale – covering railway, heritage and general interest. All proceeds will be put towards developing the railway. Donations of suitable materials gratefully accepted. Please follow Facebook for more information.
After more than 2 years of work by the team much loved RSH 0-6-0 locomotive ‘Moorbarrow’ is almost complete following a total restoration. The final touches are being applied to the loco and we hope she will be seen in passenger service later this week. She will then share duties over the summer with Pannier tank L92. All the Gwili team are very excited to have this wonderful engine back in steam and look forward to seeing her in action.
As summer has now fully arrived, and rules for hospitality are eased, our team is busy planning the restart of our very popular cream teas, dining trains and other special events and experiences. We are working hard to put systems in place to ensure we can offer these services in a safe and enjoyable way for all our wonderful passengers – please check our facebook and website for further news and announcements…….
The team at the Gwili are delighted to announce that trains are now stopping at Llwyfan Cerrig again. You can visit the riverside picnic area, view and take photos of the stock and locomotives in the yard or just relax in the sunshine and talk to the volunteers about our future plans. Light refreshments are normally available and the toilet block is also open. Stops at the moment are around 20 minutes long, while our current C19 safety measures mean you have to return on the same train – hopefully it wont be too long until we can offer the option to stay over for the next train and open more facilities. Please pop in and support Christine, Dave and the rest of the Llwyfan team.
